Building the Dream
Mainstay DRP has embarked on an ambitious project to create a state-of-the-art purpose built development for older people with learning disabilities in Downpatrick.
The venture will cost £3million to construct and a site has already been secured at Killough Road, on the outskirts of the Co Down town.
The three distinct services provided by Mainstay DRP –residential, respite and day care – will all be offered at this new location.
As part of the plan, two brand new residential houses will be created providing permanent living accommodation for five people per home.
Current day care services offered by Mainstay DRP to 65 clients will be moved to the organisation’s new facility resulting in the daily activities being hosted in more modern, holistic surroundings. Transferring the charity’s respite services to the new development will make available 4,380 bed nights annually.
In addition these high quality services, a training and administrative centre will be created to provide educational opportunities in social care and administrative services to Mainstay DRP’s staff and other social care providers’ employees.
Charity events are continuously being organised by the volunteer fundraising team to ensure Mainstay DRP meets their £3million target.
