Name
:    Barbara Boland

From :    Saint James, New York

How did you hear of the Mainstay DRP Mizen to Malin Head Elite Cycle Challenge? :    A friend, Patsy McGurk, who I bike with every year told me and Mary Woods about the challenge.  Patsy, Mary and I have been cycling for the last few years every summer for a week in Ireland.

How long have you been long distance cycling for? :    Approximately eight years.  I have done numerous century rides in the US and for the last four years have spent a week each summer cycling in Ireland.

Do you belong to a cycling club? :    I am part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program.  The society trains participants for endurance events such as marathons, century rides and triathlons and the participant raises money for the Leukemia Society.  I have been both a participant and a cycling coach for this program.

How did you find training for the event? :    love cycling so training was not a problem.  My training routes were near my home in Saint James and through the eastern end of Long Island.

What are you looking forward to most about the Elite Challenge? :    I’m looking forward to seeing parts of Ireland that I have not been to before, meeting new people and learning more about Mainstay DRP.
